Welcome to the 2nd Aegean Arts festival! An international festival that journeys into rural Crete to reveal the secrets and hidden treasures of this amazing island through music and art.
A festival that supports young talent and which also creates a bridge that enables them to inspire and share their passion for music with youth living in the countryside. After the great success of last year we will return to the beautiful mountain villages of Episkopi and Anopolis for this years events.
In Episkopi the exhibits of artwork and handicraft will be displayed at the gorgeous newly restored museum in the heart of the village, whilst the musical performances will take place at the magical garden Park of Panagiotakis.
Anopolis handicraft park technicians will be presenting educational workshops throughout the duration of the festival, and this years programme also offers free music seminars, a tour of the Byzantine churches of Episkopi, a film evening as well as fun activities for children.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

Anopolis Handicraft Park
Throughout the festival the Anopolis Handicraft Park will welcomε visitors to participate in a range of educational workshops. The handicraft factories will offer FREE presentations of the design and production of their unique handmade Cretan products.All items produced are on display and can be purchased at reduced prices. Workshops will be operating constantly and visitors may visit the Park at any time and remain for as long as they wish. Workshops vary in duration between 15 and 40 minutes.

At this newly transformed 'Haven of Art' we look forward to admiring for the first time paintings,crafts and photography of the 15 participating international artists, and celebrate together the commencement of this years festival.

Manos Kitsikopoulos is one of the most promising young Greek pianists. Α recent graduate with Distiction and the honorary title DipRAM from the Royal Academy of Music, London. Manos will take us on a musical journey through different places of the world with works by Debussy, Konstantinidis, M.Hatzidakis, Fazil Say (Turkish composer), F.Liszt and S. Barber.
Monday 6/7, 21.30: Stephen Savage - "Beethoven - - the tormented Genius"

Distinguished Australian conductor, pianist and acclaimed professor of piano Stephen Savage, invites us to a fascinating evening of piano music that will reveal the eccentricities of the genius - Beethoven.
Tuesday 7/7, 21.30: Hyuk Namkoong - piano recital
Panagiotakis Open Theater (Episkopi)
Born in South Korea in 1993, Hyuk Namkoong started playing piano at the age of 11. In 2010 he won the "Young Musician of Gulf" and was awarded the prize for most promising Bahrain-based musician and best pianist alongside first overall prize. He went on to winning 3rd prize at the 1st International Chopin Competition in Kuwait. Hyuk moved to UK to study with Vivian Choi in Cambridge.
He has recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the Royal Academy of Music, London.

A very special evening in the company of Greek composer George Andreou. Together with fine vocalist Korina Legaki he shares his thoughts about the Greek song industry and presents a delightful selection of his most favourite songs.

A comical pantomine based on the romantic antics of a rich family living in an aristocratic mansion during the 16-17th centrury.
A delightful conspiracy of dance and theatre which promises to delight all ages!
Friday 10/7, 21.30: Marianna & Stephanie Kapsetaki - Piano recital
"Ο Πόλεμος των Ρομαντικών"

Twin sisters Marianna and Stephanie Kapsetakis' remarkable talent and passion for music and science has attracted wide praise and a stream of outstanding achievements.
The gifted British/Greek pianists who are graduates with honours in Medicine and Biology/Zoology from the Universities of Crete and Oxford have performed widely in Europe winning many prizes and major awards at national and international piano competitons.
Saturday 11/7, 21.30: Chamber music - "A Musical Affair"

A celebration of the finest chamber music. Τwo gifted artists from the 'Young Concert Artist Trust UK' , Benjamin Baker (Yehudi Menhuin School Graduate) and Jonathan Ware ( Julliard School Graduate) collaborate with Concertmaster of the Municipality of Athens Symphony Orchestra, violinist Jannis Georgiadis , outstanding cellist Micheal Heupel and pianist Νefeli Μousoura in an exciting musical medley.
An evening which promises to stay in our memories for a long time!
