From Wednesday August 19 to Monday August 31, 2015, the 'usual' tour in the Historical Museum of Crete is enriched with the short film screening En Garde (16΄), by Florine Leoni.
The film focuses on the contrasting forces of fencing and hypnosis: at the place where two such disparate practices meet, the respective contours of their idiosyncratic dynamics become even sharper. The film puts a focus on this encounter in the contestable zones where extremes collide. Negotiations, border trespassing , physical (or not) space, are just some of the issues raised by the unique cinematic perspective of the artist.
Swiss artist Florine Leoni lives in Basel. Her awarded cinematic work has been presented internationally in distinguished museums and Galleries, such as Haus der elektronischen Künste Basel Foundation, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Kunsthalle Wien.
