Dubrovniks live in Heraklion!
Legendary DUBROVNIKS from Australia are officially on tour in Greece and they come to Heraklion on Tuesday June 14 for a unique performance @Cine Studio!
The Dubrovniks began in Sydney in 1986. Featuring members of The Scientists, Hoodoo Gurus and Beasts of Bourbon, they were hailed as a sort of inner city “supergroup” with three lead singers and a local legend on drums. Their first single “Fireball of Love” went straight to number one in the Australian independent charts and their first album “Dubrovnik Blues” (1989) was nominated for an ARIA award. The eclectic mix of songs and styles gained them many fans across Australia and Europe.
Their second album “Audio Sonic Love Affair” (1990) saw them embrace a heavier sound and The Dubrovniks toured Europe for the first time to widespread acclaim. The single “She Got No Love” broke into the Australian mainstream top 40 and they toured constantly prior to the release of their third album “Chrome” (1992). “Down To The Sea” from this album featured in “The Green Iguana” — cited as one of the greatest surfing films ever made.
In 1994 they recorded “Medicine Wheel”, which many saw as a return to the more lo-fi approach taken on their first album. The band members drifted to different cities and while they never officially broke up, they ceased to operate as a band.
In 2014 The Dubrovniks re-formed to play a benefit concert for a friend who had been brutally assaulted. Word of that performance got out and they were soon fielding requests from all over the world to perform. In 2015 The Dubrovniks fulfilled some of those requests, performing in Australia, Greece, Spain and Austria. 2016 sees them on tour again. With a line-up featuring all the members who played on their albums, The Dubrovniks are picking up where they left off and treating audiences to some mesmerising rock and roll.
