A gracious word thy woman's lips have
told,
Worthy a wise man's utterance, O my
queen; /
/.../
You are testing me if I were a witless woman'/
/Tidings of coming fate,
Buried as yet in darkness' womb./
Aeschylus "Agamenon"

"If you had forced me to marry you, sacrificed our daughter for the luck in war to turn for your favour, then returned home after many years-did you expect things to have remained the same?"

Clytemnestra never loved you cause you weren't even worth it.

The project Angela Maasalu created during her residency in Heraklion - at the Lakkos Project- borrows its elements from Aeschylus drama "Oresteia" and its first part "Agamemnon" in particular. Playing with the character of Clytemnestra's unconventional rejection of her gender role for her time. Through this controversy Maasalu attempted to draw lines with struggles of modern day women - mainly in domestic situations and romantic relationships.

The events that the story tells us about, are no doubt tragic and disturbing, Clytemnestra in the midst of it being depicted as the main
one to blame. Killing her husband Agamemnon cold-bloodedly, as well as innocent Cassandra, and then as a revenge being murdered by her own son. However, following her character closer, she is a very witty, powerful and dynamic woman. Her actions no worse than Agamemnon's.

Despite the fact how many changes gender roles have seen since those times, home in many ways has remained to be the place for horror. What happens behind the closed doors of a family or lovers houses, can sometimes be a brutal playground. As well as the legacy of
Clytemnestra's name never being able to wash of the blood from itself.
