Swiss photographer Fred Boissonas (1858–1946) visited Crete between 1911 and 1913 and shot a series of photographs using orthochromatic plates, a technique which was to become his 'artistic trademark'. This summer his collection of photographs taken in Crete return home, and specifically in Elounda, where two of the most characteristic photos of the exhibition were taken. Images of people, landscapes, customs and everyday life in last century Crete come to contrast modern realities. The exhibition is hosted at the Elounda community center and was organized by the Manolis Foundoulakis Library in collaboration with the Rizarios Foundation and the Swiss Embassy in Athens.
The exhibition opened on July 28 and will remain open until August 31.
