The 2nd Street Art Festival of Heraklion will take place from Monday July 3 to Friday July 7, 2017. The program includes music and dance performances, theatrical plays, art exhibitions and more. The aim of the festival is to make art widely accessible to the public and to promote local artists, by transforming the historical center of Heraklion to a large stage. Art will fill the streets, parks and squares of Heraklion and we are all invited to participate in this open-air celebration!

Exhibitions
Six exhibitions open their doors at the same time on Monday July 3 at 11.00!
1. "Art & Technology"- exhibition
An innovative exhibition by the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) at the Basilica of St. Mark (Lions Square)
Duration 3-7 July. Opening hours: 9.30 – 13.00 and 17.30-21.00.
2. "Architecture and Building Quality" - exhibition
An interesting exhibition that presents some of the most important architectural monuments of the city at the former Police Station of Heraklion (Lions Square).
Duration 3-15 July. Opening hours: 11.00 – 13.30 and 18.00-21.00. Closed on weekends.
3. "Colori per Sognare" - exhibition
A painting exhibition by Italian artist Ivano Battiston. At the 2nd floor of the municipal cultural center "Androgeo" (near Loggia)
Duration: 3-7 July. Opening hours: 11.00-13.30 and 18.00-21.00.
4. Photography exhibition
Works by members of the Hellenic Photography Company of Crete, independent photographers, amateurs and professionals.
At the former traffic police station (Lions Square)
Duration: 3-7 July. Opening hours: 11.00-14.00 and 18.00-21.00.
5. Photography exhibition inspired by N.Kazantzakis
At the back yard of the Cultural Center "Androgeo" (near Loggia)
Duration: 3-7 July. Opening hours: 11.00 - 22.00.
6 . "Labyrinths and Dolphins" - Art exhibition by Prinary School students
Children paint costumes and motifs inspired by the Minoan Civilization.
At the bookstore of the Municipal Library "Vikelea" (Lions Square).

Concerts
Every evening for five days the streets, parks and squares of the city will become a large music stage for all tastes! Traditional music, music of the West and the East, classical music, experimental, rock, swing and more!
The main venues include the Basilika of St. Mark, Eleftherias Square, Georgiadis Park, Loggia, as well as the main squaries of the historical districts of Lakkos and Agia Triada.

21.00 The colorful percussions of BATALA CRETA, together with the acrobats of ACTIVE FLOW PERFORMERΜΑΝCES will welcome you outside the Basilica and then invite you to follow them in a music-and-dance parade to Eleftherias Square.
