In the customary get-together in Maria's house at Limni, she was always a unique figure of the summer gathering. She welcomes us with a plate of steaming pilafi (rice) and kalitsounia (pie). With the knowledge that comes only with time, she seems proud of her grandchildren and friends. In a tiny kitchen filled with Crete.
