Mrs Eleni, Sfendili village

There will be war! Only dead they'll take us away from here.

Mrs Eleni – Sfendili

Mrs Eleni is one of the very few remaining people at Sfendili village in Cherssonisos-Crete, denying to abandon the village after the decision of the Greek government to construct a dam in the area. Sfentili is supposed to be evacuated since it will sink under millions of cubic meters of water once the dam completes.

People living at Sfendili were compensated for their properties by the government, nevertheless, they refuse to leave the village. As they say, the compensation they got for their houses was small, while the government had not fulfilled its obligation to move the settlement to another area.
