Agia Pelagia

A very beautiful gulf at the western side of Heraklion. It is quite near the city so the locals prefer it for a swim nearby. The gulf is well protected so there are usually no waves and it is perfect for night swims. It is quite crowded though, especially on the weekends and in the afternoon weekdays. Further, the village is built literally inside the sea so the beach is narrow. But you can have your coffee, beer and cocktails with a sea view.
