The beach of Preveli is one of these places in Crete that come to fulfill all expectations deriving from post cards and advertising flyers. It is located at the exit of the astonishing and harsh Kourtaliotis gorge, to which Kourtaliotis river (or Megas Potamos) is running. The exit of the river forms a small lake surrounded by Theofrastos’ palm trees. You should absolutely walk further into the gorge, swim in the small lakes and admire this unique scenery. What is more astonishing is that, although the palm trees forest has been burned back in 2010, its rejuvenation is a living miracle.
