Posing in front of the city walls

Kids wearing the traditional cretan costumes pose in front of the camera of the Cretan Turk photographer R. Behaeddin. This angle of the Venetian walls has barely changed since then – as if time froze and the only thing that makes a difference is the clothes. When Behaeddin set his camera, there was no "Kainourgia Porta" (New Gate): 70 more years would have to pass until its construction.
